Please help me (and other nutritionists and practitioners) be able to practice in Michigan and protect your rights as consumers to choose who you see for nutrition advice.

We need your support to get a bill signed and passed – Michigan HB 4688 – which will repel the Licensure Law passed in 2006 (but not implemented) that only allows dieticians to discuss nutrition with clients in MI.

Excluded from giving any nutrition advice would be: Masters and PhD level nutritionists, Acupuncturists, Naturopathic Doctors, Health Coaches, Nutritionally trained Chefs, Nutrition Therapists, Certified Nutritionists, Herbalists, Massage Therapists, and many others. Chiropractors, Nurses, and Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine would not be allowed to refer to themselves as Nutritionists, even if that were the primary modality. Depending on enforcement practices of the law, it is possible Nurses and Doctors of Osteopathic medicine who do not have nutrition explicitly in their scopes of practice, may also be barred from practicing.
Actions you can take can be found at Center for Nutrition Advocacy.
