Want to improve your gut health and digestion?

OKombuchane of the best ways and best tasting ways to improve your gut health and digestion is to add kombucha to your diet.  Kombucha is a fermented drink that is full of probiotics and prebiotics, enzymes, antioxidants, B-vitamins and more!  The fermentation process makes this a living food full of live and active cultures.  It has a tangy yet sweet and refreshing taste that even my kids love it and we drink it as an alternative to soda.  The probiotics are great to help keep the gut in balance and make sure the bad bacteria do not over proliferate.  This in addition to the fact that our immune system is mainly in our gut and so drinking kombucha can also help with our immune function.  Many people also report increases in metabolism, energy, digestive function, cleansing and healing benefits when they add kombucha to their diet!

    Good Morning,
I enjoy your blog. I also enjoyed the thyroid summer. I try to do changes one at a time.
I do wonder about the sugar in the kombucha tea. You said that one of the worst food is sugar, but for the kombucha tea need 1cup of sugar. Still healthy?
There is one other thing. I’m looking for a recipe book with all the good food recipes. I have not find it yet. It would help with the changes.

Thank you for all the information.

    • The sugar actually gets used up in the fermentation process so it is not a sugary drink you end up with! My new book has many recipes called The Skinny On Fats.

  2. Do you have any suggestions for me? A few years ago I tried Kombucha and became very sick afterwards.
Last year I tried a Kefir mousse made with chocolate and ended up in the emergency room. I had no idea I would react like that to either Kombucha or Kefir. It was very unexpected. I also notice that when I have a little apple cider vinegar I don’t feel well. Any thoughts are appreciated, I’d like to have the benefits of these foods if I could. Thank you.

    • You may be detoxing too fast. You can try having very small amounts with a meal or even after a meal and see if its tolerated better. As little as 1/2 or 1 teaspoon even!
